Reading Numbers 16: 41-50. (See also the larger context of Numbers 16:1-40)

1. Context :  What was happening within the nation of Israel at that time? What sins were demonstrated?_____________________________________________________________________

These acts of rebellion against God open doors of judgement and brought consequences.

2. Can you draw a parallel with our world today, both of its sins and also of the consequences of our world's  sins?_______________________________________________________________________

 

3. What did Moses and Aaron do for the people? Vs 45_____________________________________

 

4.Subsequently what did Aaron do in Numbers 16: 47-48____________________________________

Remember that incense is a symbol of the prayers of God's people. ( Revelation 5:8). Aarons prayers and incense brought atonement or literally a covering. The thought is the prayers of Aaron invoked the shed blood of the sacrifices which covered the sins of the people. Then the plagues was stopped.

 

5.Where did Aaron stand Vs 48?________________________________________________________

What does this mean for us today both in a physical sense and a spiritual sense? __________________________________________________________________________________

 

6.Aaron as  a priest had a twofold role

a. To represent people to God.

b. To represent God to people.

7. In 1 Peter 2:9 we are called royal priests." You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession." NLT It was always God's intention that all of his people be priests. See Exodus 19:6. But the sin of Israel caused them to lose this calling and so it was limited to Aaron and his house.

​

Now in Christ we have all become royal priests once again. We are called to

a. represent people to God. How can we do this?__________________________________________

b. represent God to people. How can we do this? ( Look at 1 Peter 2: 9 and 12)__________________

 

How did the cleaner represent God to Lee in hospital______________________________________

 

Conclusion Finally on behalf of  whom is God asking me to mediate as a priest?__________________________
